Challenge 19 ~ Thinking Of You

Good morning and welcome to the 2 Sisters Challenge Blog for our 19th challenge.  This is the final challenge of 2010.  First we would like to thank Tracey Malnofeski of The Stamping Boutique for sponsoring our challenge last week.  We would also like to thank all of those who entered challenge 18.  There were over 100 entries.  You do an amazing job creating your projects.  I really enjoy seeing all of the different styles.

Now I would like to explain our next challenge.  This week's challenge is a very special one for me.  Thirteen years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and two years ago this coming February 6th I had a bone marrow transplant and had to be away from home for a month.  What we would like to do is collect cards for the patients at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston MA (this is where I had my bone marrow transplant).

To enter this challenge we are asking you to create a card that has a theme of THINKING OF YOU.  You can also use HELLO, JUST FOR YOU, & JUST A NOTE as sentiments on your cards.  We are asking that you refrain from using the sentiment of get well.  Once you have your card(s) made and posted to the challenge we are asking that you write an encouraging note in the card and address the envelope to "ANY PATIENT" and then place the card(s) in a package addressed to me at

STACY WALKER
15 WILLOW WAY
SWANVILLE, MAINE O4915
USA

When your package is on its way to me please e-mail me at twosisterschallengeblog@live.com to let me know so that I can keep an eye out for it.

Once I have collected the cards I will deliver them to the volunteers at the Brigham & Women's Hospital on January 30th (my next visit) to be handed out to patients in their transplant wards. It is our hope that when the patients receive these beautiful handmade cards and read the notes of encouragement it will brighten their day a little.

This week there will be a prize package for the winner of the challenge.  I will  post a list of the contents of the package by Monday.  If you would like a chance to win the prize package this is what we are asking you to do...

1. Create a card that has a theme of THINKING OF YOU, HELLO, JUST A NOTE. or JUST FOR YOU (please refrain from using "get well")

2. Write an encouraging note in the card and address the envelope to "ANY PATIENT"

3. Place the card(s) in a package addressed to me (at the address above)

4. E-mail me at twosisterschallengeblog@live.com to let me know that the package is on its way.

Here is what the DT has come up with to inspire you....

I am currently a stamp artist for UnityStampCo. and I've worked for InStyleStamps, Squigglefly, and TheDigiShack in the past. I'm a professional artist and an active member of the Artist' Guild in my community. I have quite a busy household with a husband, 3 teenagers, 5 mini-dachshunds and an Appaloosa mare. Challenge 17 ~ Twas The Night Before Christmas

Good Morning and welcome to the 17th challenge here at the 2 Sisters Challenge Blog.  Before we tell you about the challenge we would like to thank Robyn's Fetish for sponsoring our Sparkly Christmas Challenge.  Next we would like to thank all of you who enter our last challenge. We had an amazing 133 entries.

Now on to the next challenge.  For this challenge we have chosen the theme of...

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
What we would like to see during this challenge is a card/project using something from the poem.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!

Our sponsor this week is Tellen's Place

About Tellen’s Place Designs: I started this challenge blog in November of 2009 with the hopes of sharing my son’s art with the rest of the crafting world.  These images are hand drawn with signature characters, Edward and Allison (Ally) and their friends.  We then developed Divas, Moms and Teens and our latest addition is our dark character images, as there was a specific request for these from bloggers.  We really enjoy seeing our images come to life on paper and how other crafters utilize them in their crafty projects.  Our design team cannot seem to get enough of these wonderful images that are designed for everyone to use.  We really enjoy them and hope that you will too!

Take a moment to stop by Tellen's Place to check out their line of digis.  Terry of Tellen's Place was very generous and gave our DT some images to showcase this week.  Here is what the DT has come up with to inspire you.
